Thank you for sharing this list of privileged people who — whatever they’ve done — began their journey already advantaged, and who will largely live their lives insulated from the ill effects of coming changes. It’s nice they are able to afford their optimism.
However inspired I am expected to feel by all this, and try as I might, I cannot shake the memory of physicians and nurses (and support workers) struggling to give care as hospitals and refugee camps in Gaza are systematically bombed.
These are just a few of the memories I cannot shake.
I am not at all sure the works of comfortable writers living in elegant places are going to be what saves us.
More power to these folks for having found their safe havens, and I would not take that away from them. I do not think, though, for all but the very, very few, given where they are and the advantage they come from, that they are able to bring meaningful perspective to what’s called for.
I think I’ll choose to be inspired by those speaking courageously from the depths, instead.
Thank you for featuring me on this great list! Bookmarking some of these
Oh great! Which one are you most drawn to?
